New York Jets is a professional American football team in the NFL. NY Jets are lacated in East Rutherford, New Jersey. The New York Jets began to play as a charter member of the American Football League under the name Titans of New York in 1960. They are members of the Eastern Division of the American Football Conference (AFC) in the National Football League (NFL). The New York Jets hold the distinction of being the first AFL team to defeat an NFL club in an AFL-NFL World Championship Game when they defeated the Baltimore Colts in Super Bowl III. It is believed the New York Jets upset of the Colts in Super Bowl III “substantiated” the AFL and “legitimized the AFL’s merger with the NFL.”
