Offensive guard Charlie Tanner has agreed to a free agent deal with the New York Jets.

Tanner confirmed the deal to the American-Statesman after the draft concluded Saturday afternoon.

Tanner was a two-year starter for the Longhorns. And he’s a former standout at Anderson High School.
Keith Buckman T, North Dakota State- Nothing incredibly impressive about Buckman but he will get a chance to learn from Bill Callahan in camp. He will get a chance to compete with Charlie Tanner and Robert Turner for a spot on the roster but expect him to land on the practice squad as an insurance policy in the event of an injury.
Charlie Tanner G, Texas- The Jets needed some depth on the offensive line and Tanner is the perfect fit as they prepare for life without Alan Faneca. At 6’4305 pounds, he is the perfect candidate to step in and stage a great competition for the starting LG job with Matt Slauson, Robert Turner, and Vlad Ducasse. The most impressive tangible Tanner has is strength. At the combine he put up 35 225 lbs. reps on the bench.
